What to Know About the Celebrity American Century Golf Tournament in Lake Tahoe
First held in 1990, the American Century Championship has become a staple of the Lake Tahoe summertime events calendar. The three-day tournament takes place at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, whose spectacular mountain views and challenging hole layouts provide the perfect backdrop for celebrity golfers to test their skills. Over 80 stars come out each year to swing the clubs in this 54-hole stroke play competition. This is one of the most premiere events in South Lake Tahoe and it’s always fun and a little exciting to see celebrities while relaxing in one of the most gorgeous golf courses ever. 1. The Venue
The Edgewood Tahoe Resort golf course is located on the shores of Lake Tahoe in Stateline, Nevada and provides incredible views of the pristine lake and Sierra Nevada mountains. This championship course is a George Fazio design and was unveiled in 1968, featuring rolling fairways dotted with tall pine trees and challenging water hazards created by the lakeside landscape. The roster of favorite celebrities comes from the world of sports, Hollywood, and pop culture. Well-known golf enthusiasts and athletes like former NFL players Aaron Rodgers, and three-time champion Tony Romo. Other athletes like Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, former NBA player Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Robbie Gould, Demarcus Ware, Patrick Mahomes, Jerry Rice, and Justin Timberlake regularly participate, as do big names across other entertainment industries.
In the past actors like Miles Teller, Alfonso Ribeiro, Chace Crawford, Michael Pena, and Ray Romano have participated.
Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry plays every year as does San Jose Sharks’s players Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton.

3. What to Know about Being a Spectator
Here are some tips for spectators at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe:
If a golf ball lands near you be sure to LEAVE IT ALONE! Course officials will come over to handle the ball and if you move it you may run the risk of being asked to leave the venue.
Despite this being a really fun event, there is a time and place for rowdiness and it’s not on the course where celebrities are competing. Watch your sound level especially if players are nearby on the course.
The Lake Tahoe golf tournament takes place on the shores of beautiful Lake Tahoe and at nearly 7,200 feet elevation, you should wear hats and sunblock. Stay hydrated as South Lake Tahoe gets very dry.
They are extremely strict about the size of the purse you bring and/or having a clear bag. No food is allowed, but you can bring water. On-site concessions and merchandise booths are cash only. Nearby ATMs have long lines so come prepared if you want refreshments or souvenirs.
A limited number of autographs will be available at the celebrity’s discretion. The tournament asks guests to please limit requests to before and after play. Autographs are not allowed during the round.
4. Parking
There is no on-site parking at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. Public parking is located in the casino parking lots or along Lake Parkway. Handicap parking is located at the rear parking lot of the Hard Rock Casino Lake Tahoe, $30.00 parking fee.

- $30 each day, Wednesday and Thursday.
