Review of the Marriott Springhill Suites Auburn California
On a recent trip to Truckee, we found an amazing rate for a newer hotel in Auburn California. Auburn is about 30 minutes from Soda Springs Ski Resort which is the closest ski resort to Auburn. It was a last-minute trip and rental homes were expensive so we were happy to find a great rate. Read below for a review of Springhill Suites Auburn California.
The hotel is located on a hill a couple of miles from Old Town. They have a great view of the tree canopy in the Auburn State Recreation Area. Just a note about google maps, the streets aren’t loaded onto the app yet so it will have you turn into a parking before the actual entrance up the hill to Springhill Suites.
I found the hotel location convenient as it is super close to an entrance and exit to High I-80. There was a coffee shop and breakfast diner nearby which were alternatives if you didn’t want the continental breakfast at the hotel. It’s also close to Downtown Auburn which has eateries and several shopping options.

Rooms and Prices at Springhill Suites Auburn
Springhill Suites is an all-suite hotel that offers King and 2 Queen bed suites. All suites have a trundle bed on the in-room sofa, they are full out and actually somewhat comfortable! The rooms were very clean and had modern decorations.
A small kitchenette nook had a mini fridge , microwave and coffee maker. Each room has a desk with chair, sofa and large bathroom with shower. Our room didn’t have a bathtub which I think is standard to this Springhill Suite location. Rooms range from $100-150 a night depending on if you select a king or queen suite.
Amenities and Perks at Springhill Suites Auburn
Springhill Suites Auburn offers a free continental breakfast, but it’s heartier than a typical continental breakfast. They had muffins, cereal, Greek yogurt, and steel-cut oatmeal offerings. Each day were at the hotel, breakfast was a busy time. They did run out of orange juice and a few items but I felt there were plenty of offerings.

The hotel offers complimentary tea, coffee and hot cocoa, pool/spa and a fire pit with seating around it. The lobby is large a great place to congregate if you have a large group of people. There is a separate seating space near the lobby with a gas fireplace and this is where the beverages are located.
If you need a place to stay from a highway or weather break Springhill Suites in Auburn is a great choice. It’s also a good choice for a last-minute trip and if you don’t mind a 30-minute drive to Soda Springs or Boreal ski resorts!
