Capisce?

Don’t be deterred by the name of this restaurant. This Italian restaurant is located in the heart of South Lake Tahoe and is known for its delicious pasta dishes and wood-fired pizzas. Two things make this Italian restaurant unique to the area: they offer gluten-free pasta and zucchini pasta!

Scusa

This Italian restaurant is located off Highway 50. Scusa is a casual eatery and the whole menu seemed like there was a little of everything for everyone to choose from.

We liked Scusa for the quality Italian dishes and the friendly service and highly recommend lobster ravioli and Scusa garlic bread!

Primo’s Italian Bistro

This Italian restaurant is located in South Lake Tahoe and is known for its authentic Italian cuisine, including pasta dishes, wood-fired pizzas, and a variety of meat and seafood entrees.

It has a casual and cozy vibe with checkered tablecloths, Tiffany Lampshades, and friendly staff. Try the rigatoni or the salmon!

Izabella

If you need a romantic option, then Izabella is the restaurant to get to! We love the charming and cozy feel of this restaurant. Start with a gorgeous loaf of fresh, fluffy focaccia with a tasty dipping sauce of olive oil, balsamic, and Italian herbs.

Consider trying the mushroom ravioli or a gluten-free pasta dish, the sauces are so flavorful! Izabell has a large parking lot and offers a vegetarian menu.

Cafe Fiore

Cafe Fiore is tiny but don’t let that dissuade you because it’s one of the best Italian restaurants in South Lake Tahoe. It’s intimate, it’s cozy and it’s unique. Outdoor dining during warmer weather is beautiful, however, dining inside when there’s snow outside is magical!

We tried the minestrone and linguine which were delicious. Make sure to make reservations ahead of time because the restaurant has about 10 tables!

Lake Tahoe Pizza Company

Lake Tahoe Pizza Company is a rustic South Lake Tahoe staple that serves up great pizza and calzones. They also have an extensive beer and wine list.

Lake Tahoe Pizza Company has a 45-person, multi-media banquet room, perfect for large parties & company meetings.

Parking can be a challenge at this spot since it shares with several other businesses, so we recommend an early dinner.

Gastromaniac Pizza & Pasta

While Gastromaniac is on the smaller side it packs a big flavor with its handmade pasta! The chef was trained in the finest food region of Europe…and his food reflects that. 

Try one of the pasta dishes or the Valentino pizza which has a ball of burrata on top!

Sapori Italian Kitchen (Harrah’s-Tahoe)

Sapori took over the space that housed the Harrah’s Buffet and this is a hidden gem! Sapori is located on the 18th floor of the Harrah’s Casino. They also offer 4 hours of validated parking. The rooftop restaurant experience is wonderful around sunset.

All diners get complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Our favorites here are the Ceasar Salad which is big enough to share and the mushroom ravioli which was so fresh and tasty.

Grand Central Pizza and Pasta

Grand Central Pizza & Pasta in South Lake Tahoe is a local’s favorite! The New York-style pizza (and calzones) features dough that is made fresh daily with homemade pizza sauce, hand-tossed, and baked in a brick oven. 

Grand Central Pizza & Pasta also offers a great selection of classic Italian pasta dishes and also serves up charbroiled burgers and sandwiches.

This is a great place for kids and larger groups. If you are feeling adventurous try the Hawaiian Express pizza or the Clam Bake pizza which features clams and butter on a crispy pizza crust.

Base Camp Pizza

Base Camp is conveniently located in the Heavenly Village, which makes it a great midday lunch/dinner spot while on the mountain or exploring the shops nearby. They do tend to be quite busy, so expect to wait (or walk around and shop) if you plan to dine in. If you’re on a time crunch, you can always order for pick-up.

Base Camp Pizza has a variety of pasta dishes making it one of our favorite spots in South Lake Tahoe to get Italian food. They have dishes like spaghetti bolognese, cheese ravioli and shrimp penne.

Base Camp Pizza also has an extensive beer and cocktail list plus they often offer weekly live music. Base Camp Pizza has indoor and outdoor seating. This restaurant is located in the Heavenly Village plaza, so parking is in a paid structure nearby or metered on the street.

Vinny’s Pizzeria

Vinny’s Pizzeria in South Lake Tahoe offers hand-tossed, New York-style pizzas and Italian pasta dishes. They offer spaghetti, baked ziti, wings and calzones in addition to several different pizza flavors. Make sure to call ahead for the baked ziti as they occasionally make a small batch to sell.

Vinny’s offers delivery, dine-in and take-out and are now open for lunch on weekends. The parking can be challenge at Vinny’s since their parking lot is fairly small.
