The Baked Bear Review: South Lake Tahoe’s Newest Ice Cream Joint

The Baked Bear, a popular dessert chain known for its ice cream sandwiches, has recently opened a new location in South Lake Tahoe, California. Located on Lake Tahoe Boulevard in Heavenly Village, the new shop offers locals and visitors a sweet treat after a day of outdoor adventures.

We recently visited the Baked Bear on a Tuesday evening after dinner. The concept is simple. Pick a cookie, then an ice cream flavor and finally add a topping for an additional .99. You can also have your ice cream sandwich put in the press which heats up the cookie and makes the ice cream softer.

We chose from a variety of freshly baked cookies, brownies, and waffles to create our own custom ice cream sandwich. There were several toppings to choose from and the staff was able to make our ice cream sandwiches to go with small containers.

The shop also offers ice cream by the scoop, as well as milkshakes, hot fudge sundaes, and floats.

We tried the cookie sandwiches and the waffle cones. Everything was very fresh and soft and despite the shop being busy we didn’t wait too long for our treats.

The Baked Bear prides itself on using high-quality, all-natural ingredients, including hormone-free milk and cage-free eggs. The shop also offers gluten-free and vegan options to accommodate dietary restrictions.

The new South Lake Tahoe Baked Bear shop has a cozy and inviting atmosphere, complete with several tables to relax at. The staff was also incredibly friendly despite the crowded shop.

Parking is a challenge at this location. Because the actual shop is on the second floor in Heavenly Village, the parking lots are usually crowded plus there isn’t a ton of street parking to go around. Bring patience or catch an Uber to visit the area.

The Baked Bear is a great addition to South Lake Tahoe’s dining scene and is sure to satisfy any sweet tooth.
